Hi, my name is John Mackenzie (my screen name being drawn from a beloved novel series), and I created this account to try my hand at some expressionist writing. I love creative criticism in this regard, as the only thing of slight regard to my writing skills is that I can type in Scots Gaelic as well as English. I learned the language as a bairn, and for some reason I find it far more easy to express my feelings in that tongue than my usual English. I spend most of my time either at school, reading, or doing something outside. I am a major fan of archery and historical fencing, and all sorts of other outdoor activities. I've even made an attempt at farming! And, if I might say, the one apple tree that survived into bloom is doing quite well, I think. My tastes in music are a bit odd honestly, in that I like old school things. As in, 17th-18th century weird. I won't trash modern music though, everybody has their tastes, mine just don't lay there. There are a couple of modern pieces that make it into my playlist though, which should be no surprise. My favorite novels include The Lord of the Rings, The Rangers Apprentice, the Gaunts Ghosts series, and Sharpe. For what little TV I watch, Outlander is usually my favorite show to tune in to. The elements of these creations will no doubt influence my writing style, although I do hope to have at least one small characteristic that is all of my own. Thank you for reading, and I hope you enjoy!
