Having travelled the world extensively throughout his life, Heath Shedlake draws on these experiences to create richly-woven stories in his historical fiction series. Writing is a place where he retreats to in order to fulfil his creative urges. Loosely based on his own personal experiences in life, his main character, Jabuti faces extraordinary hardships in his young life, but somehow finds the inner-strength to overcome them.
To quote from Hope Not Lost, the sequel to Heath's first novel, The Shamanic Prophecy:
"Try to enjoy the present; for that is all we have. Yesterday is a memory and tomorrow is but a dream..."
Fine sentiments indeed, but sometimes hard to focus on in our busy lives. But that is where the world of fiction provides an inspiring and entertaining world where one can escape to and recharge one's spirit.
