A vast majority of the scheduled meetings are over, and now I have just one more major thing before July. And so I have booked several coffees with friends, and even a day-trip to York to see another friend! At last, time to relax with friends! Not that I've finished book 7's structural edit/rewrites yet. But I'm down to the last 50 pages. Hoping I get a chance at that tomorrow. Meanwhile, I watched England win tonight (World Cup group stages) while creating new social posts. Let's see if I can find some more followers ... and readers!

Just had some brilliant beta-reader feedback on my first chapters of book 1, 'Crossing the Boundary'. An incredible amount of encouragement, and a few things to possibly tweak in my next reboot. But before I get there, I'm in the home stretch of book 7's structural edit, and book 8 is waiting not-so-patiently for attention. Watch this space!

I'm making headway in book 7's editing. This is the hardest one I've had to do so far - there is some darkness here that goes deeper than experiences they've gone through before, and it could be triggering for readers. But if I leave it out, there is a serious plot hole. The 1st book might start reading rather YA, but bit by bit, their innocence is indeed destroyed.

So then, the cataract appointment went well. Meaning that the race is definitely on! I should hear in 2 weeks about scheduling the surgery probably in the following month.

Meanwhile, I am neck-deep in major rewrite/edit of book 7, posting chapters as I go. They won't be my best, but they'll be up. I've uncovered a plot hole the size and length of the Grand Canyon, and I'm in the middle of sorting that out, including additions and rewrites to several chapters. Fingers crossed! And poor Denny - he bears the brunt of this. I only hope he forgives me at the end of it!

Besides the things I need to write for the day-job, there's lots of socials to schedule, and more Substack material to write and prepare. Not sure if I'll finish the 2nd draft of book 8,, now tentatively titled 'The Boundary Embraced' (which will make sense if you read it) before then, but we'll see.

Meanwhile, if you fancy a bloggy read, you can check out said Substack, where you'll get an alternate viewpoint of Bk 1 Ch 1!

I've been asked why I wrote 'The Silver Chronicles' and to be honest, I'm not sure exactly how it started. I watched the news, and my brain mashed everything together, fast-forwarded a couple centuries, and the basics of the world formed in my head. I did some research, of course, because I'm too much of a science brain to just invent everything. You'll find a bit of my search history on my socials, and more on my Substack, https://heidigoodchild.substack.com/profile/posts . Then, I pondered what all that would mean for those living in my city. And what the people might be like. Applied what I know about personalities and how different people deal with trauma, and the characters began to form in my head. Then, I dropped them into the world to see what they would do. There was a goal I had in mind, but I didn't think it would look like this. No, my characters have definitely hijacked my initial ideas! And yet, with a bit of coaxing, bribery, barbed-wire fences, disasters and threats, I gradually shepherded them to where I wanted them. It's definitely been a fun process. I do warn you - I'm currently editing Book 7 in the series, so if you're enjoying it, there's plenty more to read. And Book 8 is a sort-of stand-alone, though it comes after Book 7, and includes a few of the same characters as supporting cast to the 2 new protagonists. And lurking in the background are two more characters who refuse to stop chattering (hence my Substack title) and a few chapters have already been written .... I think this is a side story that will exist between the two generations, though that remains to be seen. Anyway, I've written a novel here, too! Do follow me here on Wattpad, and let me know what you think!

It's my birthday today - you'd have thought after all I've given them (brought them to life!) they would have at least bought me a card or something! Then again, the world I built around them is more of an endurance race than a blessing. Maybe that's why - they do like to hold a grudge.)

I keep thinking I'm going to share every few days .... oh well! The fresh edit for book 5, 'The Boundary Redrawn' is up and ready to read. If you don't fancy starting at the beginning, you can launch into the world of 'The Silver Chronicles' here, if you like. I have the rest of the storyline written, and trying to work out if I can trim 138,000 words into 1 book, or expand it enough for 2. Keep your eyes peeled for it!
