Morrigan hated the church and all that it stood for, taking away her right to worship the olde ways and gods. The great purge was a religious cursade by the Queen's parents.

She glared in contempt at the stained glass window of the saints above her, not realising that someone was speaking to her.

When seeing Syarah, she immediately bowed.

"Your majesty, I'm so sorry. But I came to collect something of mine that I left during morning mass, forgive me my lady."

Morrigan kept her head down and began walking to the back rooms. It was said that there was a hidden network of underground tunnels throughout Kesber that could be accessed from the church basement.

“Have you seen the queen? I could not find her in her chambers…perhaps you have seen her somewhere?”

Adrian listened with a neutral face, watching as she explained herself to him. How easily the servants seemed to jump to their feet in his presence. It was partially because of his title but he could not place the other reason. He was fair and kind and saw to it that they were not mistreated and well taken care of, but they still seemed wary of him. Cautious. Like he was a ticking time bomb waiting to explode.
He titled his head slowly, noticing the flicker of emotion. “Wait. Isolde, the queen will not grow angry if you dally a bit longer. I will speak to her myself. But you intrigue me. Tell me, what books do you enjoy the most?” A casual question, but he had seen her face change for a split second and he planned on figuring out why.

Morrigan studied him before nodding. A curious expression crossed her face.

"I'm not sure what you want your majesty. I confess I do not remember a lot after the bandints took me from forest. I can't remember much from before, but I can remember everything after. My half brother is Sir Ciarian and I was started working for the Queen the summer before you married her Sire. I try not to let my lack of memory affect my job Sire. I like reading, I was taught before coming into the Queen's employ like all of the servants in the palace are and it helps keep the nightmares at bay. With the Queen's permission I have read a lot of the books in the royal library and I enjoy most of them except for..." She paused. There was a flicker of emotion that crossed her face.

"I apologise Sire. I must get back to my duties." She gave a tight smile and turned to leave.

Adrian paused, nodding slowly at her comment before turning back to to look at her. “Isolde, isn’t it?” He asked in soft tone before shifting so that his hands were behind his back. “Tell me about yourself.” He asked. Was there a reason behind such a question? Did it harbor ill intent or was he merely just being kind? Perhaps he didn’t want to bother the queen at the moment and sought some form of conversation. Whatever the reason, it was hidden behind his dark eyes as he studied her carefully, analytically.

Morrigan didn't say anything but nodded. She grabbed a brush and began brushing Syarah's hair.

Before major festivals as High Priestress, Morrigan would help the children get ready and one girl would always request Morrigan to do her hair in intricate braids.

She shuddered for a moment remembering the smoke, burning and the little girl's body amongst the thousands of dead Druids.

She continued braiding Syarah's hair to take her mind off it, she pulled the hair rather tightly and didn't talk until she was done, she tied it and allowed Syarah to look in the mirror.

This differed greatly to how Isolde used to work, she was always chatty and indulged in Palace gossip telling Syarah which maid had the hots for which knight and whether any of them were suspected witches or not.

It was just one of things that seemed a bit different to Isolde.

"All of you blokes are always f*cking high so what do you expect me to do? I joined 'cause i didnt know what to do with my life just like you and now there's no way out of this for me. My girl can no longer make me happy, soccer doesnt cut it, neither my grades! Im the new me and i play without the rules"

The brunette muttered to his reflection in the mirror while holding a cigarette in his shaking head, green eyes pierced in fatigue and anger. He inhaled few more times before turning on the water and throwing it in and washing his face with cold water afterwards, wide eyed once he caught other reflection and turned around to face him.

"Why do handsome guys like you always stick around to hear sappy confessions of drug losers like myself? It's like your little 6th sense lures me in and turns me gay"

He rolled eyes playfully before crossing arms on the chest and looking him over.

Leto waited for the door to shut behind them before he turned his gaze to his son. He had heard his words and thought the reckless. “You speak to your father in such a way? I do not have to make you privy to any of my plans. I did not even need to tell you about this past mission.” He snapped with a sharp bite of annoyance in his tone.

“Paul, I told you because I know of your interest in our endeavors here on this planet and wanted to include you, to nurture and guide you. But do not suggestion for one second that you should have been there with me. You are the heir. You should not be put in such danger.”

@-theredduke- Paul nodded, he was acutely aware of the presence of his father's advisors in the shadows. He didn't want to rise his voice and yell at his father for being stupid enough to risk his own life as a Duke of the Landsraad to die on a pointless mission when he could have easily sent Duncan or Gurney.

Instead he gave his father a hug and sternly told him in his ear.

"If you are planning to do something like this, take me with you next time."
