Alright so Jefferson was a slave owner but when drafting the Declaration of Independence he wanted to put an antibiotic slavery clause in there and even arranged for his slaves to be set free, it got denied so he kept his slaves. People call him a rapist because he took a slave by the name of Sally Hemmings as a mistress and had a sexual relationship with her. I think calling him a rapist is unfair because it was so long ago ya know? But was it consenual? Probably not. I hope this helps!! :D
