I also think it would be cute if the grandparent gifted him things when he was a little kid. Stuff like crocheted hats and scarves, perhaps a big blanket for his teens and/or a swaddle for when he was a baby

Patches is confirmed to have no other relatives besides dead parents and a grandparent. My thoughts are, what if his grandparent is the one providing him with money to pay off school supplies, school expenses, bills and food. HC that he also has his own part-time job
