Hi guys! I just realized I officially started writing on this account exactly one year ago, and I actually can't believe it!!! I honestly started 'Seeing You' because I was a wreck after finishing the Boys of Tommen series and was in such a bad reading slump, and went to find fan fiction to fill the void and couldn't find any Katie/Patrick works and I just kept thinking about what I wanted to read in a fan fiction and then was like, wait why don't I just try to write this? Wrote the first bunch with no intention of ever posting them and finally worked up the courage and went about a month with like zero reads and I just kept going, not caring if anyone read it because I was so interested in telling it! I got my first comment about a month in and I was embarrassingly overjoyed (they actually still read my stories, so thank you if you're reading <333) Anyways sorry for the yap, but thank you so much for supporting my weird little hobby, and letting me find joy in writing again!!!! - H <3 (Also is there something we want to see as an anniversary celebration?)

Okay so, random ass idea that just occurred to me: In Greece, there's a saying that basically means that while shit is going down, someone ignores it and goes on with their business, with no regard for anyone else. It's literal translation is: "X thing was happening, and that person? Their violin!" So I feel like that could be a potential interaction between Alexia, Addie's love interest who is a Greek exchange student, and Ryder.

(2/2) The Greek school system isn't the best and most kids take after school classes in order to do well on their exams. There's 6 years of PS, 3 of MS and 3 of HS. A lot of the teachers don't want to be there and there's at least one teacher who has a couple screws loose. The guys are very rowdy, self-important and don't take anything seriously. A lot of the girls are catty and mean. There are four directions that you choose during 11th grade, Humanitarian, scientific, Medical and Economic, which all include 4 subjects. Until recently, if you wanted to go to university you had to take exams called the Panhellenics, where you were tested in one of these four subject groups, based on your direction. It has been announced that the Panhellenics will stop and the kids currently in the ninth grade won't be taking them.
In regards to food, the most obvious is souvlaki, a fast food item. There is skewer and gyros, either pork or chicken, usually served wrapped up in dough with things like tomatoes, onions, fries and tzatziki which makes your breath smell really bad and isn't recommended to eat before kissing someone (). Other foods are pastitsio, moussaka, feta cheese, Greek salad. Other foods we eat a lot are spaghetti with mince, pork steaks and a lot of fish.
We celebrate name days as well as birthdays, days celebrating saints and since most names in Greece are saint names, people sharing a name with the saint celebrate as well. Alexia's name day is the 17th of March.
In terms of sayings there are a LOT but a few are "at the devil's mother" (very far away), "you will eat wood" (you will get hit), "the donkey called the rooster big-headed" (that person is a hypocrite), "Empty my corner" (Leave me alone), "Go see if I'm coming" (Fuck off) and "I kissed pissed aprons" (I did a lot of embarrassing things for this)
I think this is everything, if you'd like to know anything else, don't hesitate to ask

@hlibrary___ No worries! Obviously everything depends on where exactly Alexia is from, at what age she moved, what her family life has been like and all that but there a few general things I can think of. To begin with, most Greek families are really large and most Greek kids have a lot of cousins, especially second and third cousins. Families are typically really close and live close by, spending almost all major holidays together. Soccer is the biggest sport here and people play it constantly. There is a lot of importance placed on which team you are a fan of, the four major teams being Olympiakos, Panathinaikos, AEK and PAOK. (Olympiakos and Panathinaikos are the two biggest and have a huge rivalry). Ancient Greek civilization isn't as referenced as some people would think it would be. The era we reference most is the Greek revolution of 1821. In most Greek families, things are quite loud and I've been told it sounds like we're arguing when we're really just talking. As a nation, we swear a lot, with the most common swear word being malakas which can be translated to masturbator but is mainly used as Asshole. Grandmas gossip a lot and more often than not, know everything about everyone, especially in small towns. They mainly sit in yards or balconies and comment on everything. It is not uncommon for them to, out of the blue, ask teens who are passing by: "Whose are you?" (Who are your parents). They are typically referred to as security cameras and a lot of the times they are who you go to in order to alter your clothes or get a haircut. (1/2)

@bas0ba This is so cool! I don't know a ton about Greece and I do want to include stuff about Alexia's family and life before she moved to Ireland. I also might have her Addie take some kind of trip there (not 100% sure yet tho), so if you can think of anymore suggestions just let me know, maybe like phrases she could say or something I could mention like favourite foods, or cultural etiquette. No worries, if you can't think of anything though, thanks for this suggestion <333
