Btw I did end up getting to go see Leviticus eventually.
YAYYYYYYYY
With my mom.
...Yeah.
"Do you just want to see this movie to watch two boys kiss?"
no, mother, believe it or not I'm just a horror fan
Yeah I like watching boys kiss, I wish I could do that, but I also just genuinely cared about the plot?
They did make out a lot tho, and the opening scene being a girl getting eaten out did not feel very fun to watch with my mother sitting next to me.
"WHY DID YOU BRING YOUR MOM THEN OLIVER???"
I. Am. Sixteen.
Normally this doesn't pose an issue when going to see an R rated movie at my usual theater. But Leviticus was only at my usual theater at
9:30 pm.
So I did a quick searcharoo. It's at a theater a town over, maybe a 15 minute drive away if I take the freeway. I call my friend up, I'm like "hey, I said I'd go see this movie with you, it's at this theater, couldya go?" and he can. It's all fine and dandy until my brain starts working through the fog of excitement again and I realize something.
I. Am. Sixteen.
Like I said, the underpaid teens at my usual theater don't gaf. Buuuuut... To my great luck, the town I have to drive to is full of old people. I went to see a movie there a couple of days before, and the theater was all...
You guessed it. Old people. They clapped when the movie was over.
So I panic, of course, and I call my friend and I'm like "Hey, ik you're 17 but I sure ain't, so could you maybe get your parent to come with us since my mom's gonna be working?" Ofc he can't, his mom says we'll be fine. So I go up to my mom and I tell her all of this and she goes "I can go see it with you today. Just let me get ready."
So there I am in the car with my mother going to watch two boys make out, give each other handjobs, and almost die over and over again. I'm sure she only focused on the making out and the bus handjob instead of the overall message of the movie. She doesn't understand gay stuff. She's 46 and a closeted homophobe.
