@catslovelike the question we should be asking is if they're even still alive. 
            
            Preppycat is (was?) truly dedicated to their fics. I discovered their account back in 2021 and I've following their work ever since. Me and my friends all agreed that they're one of the best ao3 authors in the fandom. They were loved by many and seemed to quite enjoy writing. What could possibly make them suddenly abandon it all? 
            
            It could be just them changing fandoms. But wait. They wrote fics from multiple fandoms so that can't be it. Getting tired of fanfiction in general? After posting for years? There wasn't any decrease in the posted content before their disappearance so it's not likely. It's been over a year since they disappeared (even on ao3), but they used to post a few times a month. Not only that, while a lot of authors at least put a note when they know they're going to be gone for a bit longer, preppycat did not in fact do that. They simply vanished out of no where, leaving no evidence of something going on. In other words, it's an unsolvable case.
            
            My theory? The author's curse. Nothing could else could have caused a person like Preppycat to disappear. It's just not who they are. 
            
            But will they return? Only time will tell

            They've either moved completely to Ao3 (last update was Jan 1st 2023) or they're simply busy and are working on other things other than fanfiction at the moment. At least, that's my guess
