Right, so I'm supposed to write something about myself...
Love reading, going to the library, playing card games (proficient at strategy card games like Bridge, Hearts and Poker), hanging out with friends. Quite a fan of old-fashioned board games like Chess (both International and Chinese)
Favourite authors are Simon R. Green, Jim Butcher and George R. R. Martin. Oh, and not to forget Matthew Reilly! Simply love how he keeps the action going and that edge-of-the-seat feeling constant. From the first two authors, you can probably deduce that my favourite genre is Urban Noir which is basically what you might get if you took Mystery and add a dash of Fantasy and a pinch of Western, sprinkled with a huge helping of dark humor and grit. An example could be my book "Blasphemous Murders" below :D
Recently discovered a new love, Haruki Murakami. Norwegian Wood is just so beautifully sad and After Dark simply delicious! If you can get hold of a translation of his works I would definitely recommend you to read them.
As you can guess from the previous sentences, I prefer the British spelling but sometimes I will surrender to the inevitable red line underneath my words (screw you Microsoft) and just spell them the American way.
Constructive criticisms are always welcome. Just comment on what you like/don't like and if so, how can I improve.
Looking for opportunities to hone my craft as an editor or critic.
If you want me to edit your story just email me at yanghaowen97@yahoo.com.sg or request through PM. I prefer editing through email though.
If you want me to critique your story just PM me the link.
A quote to leave you with:
“If you don't have time to read, you don't have the time (or the tools) to write. Simple as that.”
