Am I the only one noticing how so many new Wattpad stories, even from authors who used to have a strong, unique voice, are now drowning in the same AI slob?
You can tell when someone is genuinely talented. You see it in their older books, in their depth, in the way they build emotion. And then you open their latest chapters and suddenly it’s all recycled descriptions, “deep” lines that mean nothing, and those identical phrases you’ve already seen in a dozen other AI‑touched stories.
I’m not saying everything is fully AI‑generated, but the signs are there, and they’re impossible to ignore. It’s frustrating to watch a story with real potential lose its soul because an author trusted an algorithm to do the writing.
Authors, please: use AI to organize messy notes if you want, but don’t let it convince you it can write for you. Your voice is what makes your story alive. Without it, everything turns into AI slob.
If anyone has recommendations for dark romance written with actual human intensity and for which every chapter does not start with "the air was stale/bright" and do not contain lines like "as if it personally insulted him" I’d love to hear them. Please write them in the comments :)

@Hsowhebdndkdjs it depends on ai, there is ike 8 stages of it and even human writing get plagued. It depends on the words used that get flagged. You are right though many do use it in the box hoping to get that book sold but for me i like to take my time. Think of it like wine that over time slowly become something good.

On the first chapter, the prologue, I found jr a bit confusing that you are switching from We to they. It’s unclear who the narrator is. The first chapter is better written, but the dialogues feel a bit shallow. Like the girl entering the cafeteria and grabbing a bottle of water and trying to spill it on the female lead while other guys are sitting there not doing anything feels a bit off. I would introduce a bit of depth and wonder if this sounds realistic in real life. Otherwise great work keep up writing!
