Lukyan is such a fun character to explore. He's literally my pride and joy currently. He is probably the most complex character I've written as well. But I want to talk right now about his 16 year old self because it's the version of him of which I feel is my favorite.
At 16 years old Lukyan had abandoned almost his entire past except for his schooling, and this is probably one of the only parts in his story where his school social life is actually important. Because school gets complicated and hard as he is forced to maintain old relationships and new ones while also carrying overwhelming guilt along with a new smoking addiction. It is probably his all time low in terms of almost everything, everything except, and this part is the most interesting in my opinion, his morality. Now from his perspective, he is the absolute scum of the Earth, but his morality falls the closest to what you would expect of a normally functioning human's to allign with. He cares deeply for others and he doesn't want to hurt those he cares about or lose them. And he still makes very VERY bad decisions, but his intentions are for once understandble and he can actually be sympathized with a lot during this point in his life. And it isn't very easy to sympathize with a murderer. In his earlier years he was also complex and as he grew into an adult he continued to grow complex, yes, but this point in his life is where I find him most engaging as a character. Maybe this will change, but I doubt being as he is like ~91% completed. Anyways, thanks for coming to my Ted Talk. I might post more rants like these on my characters, who knows lol.
