Honestly, a lot of my stories donāt even start with a proper plan. Most of the time, they come from some sudden weird or interesting scene that randomly starts playing in my head when Iām alone or bored. Sometimes they even come from dreams! Iāll get a random scenario, a character, a conversation, or even just a strange "what if?" moment, and then I start wondering, āOkayā¦ but what happens next?ā From there, I slowly build the characters and the world around that little idea until it somehow turns into an entire story.
For writing longer stories, I think the biggest thing that helps me is starting with the characters and the main idea first, then asking myself what could realistically happen to them next. I usually try to give each chapter a small purposeāwhether it develops a character, introduces a problem, reveals something new, or moves the main story forward. That makes it easier to build a story chapter by chapter instead of trying to figure out the entire thing at once.
Iām definitely still learning myself, though! A lot of my ideas change while Iām writing, so I donāt always have everything planned from the beginning. My biggest advice would be to write down those ideas whenever they come to you and donāt worry too much about making the first draft perfect. Sometimes one tiny, random idea can grow into something much bigger once you start exploring it.
