Ikaru/Inori has to complete a written test as well to prove his worth! One of the questions is about his opinion on quirks, for which Inori writes an enlightening yet scathing piece detailing the negative impact of quirks on Japanese society and the people (scientific and technological development focusing SOLELY on quirks rather than betterment of everyday lives of people, quirkism, children missing out on important milestones due to the appearance of quirks, which SEVERELY hampers their emotional and mental growth, leading to an inability to understand situations and low IQ due to heavy reliance on quirks, especially when they are living in a power-obsessed nation, surrounded by narcissistic adults, which is why many pros don't perform well when out of their element! If someone has powers related to energy or nature, the first word to leave parents' mouths is 'hero', when the power could solve nuclear or some environmental crisis-basically saving lives in a way! Please check the chapter 'Conversations' from TheHinokami's 'The Verdant Emperor').
However, he ends it on a positive note, stating that FORCED equality via eradication of quirks may not be the right answer, as some people need theirs to survive. Instead, it is wiser to encourage parents to focus LESS on children's quirks and have them constantly remind the kids that quirk or no quirk, they all are creations of the same God, and to NOT listen to anyone else- adult or child- who says otherwise about the non-quirked, so they can be kind to each other. Kids need to be taught the REAL difference between good and evil, humility and other vital skills, as a good human being is the true definition of a hero!
Though Nezu and the pros are impressed by the answer, they seem disgusted for some reason, and it is revealed-rather hilariously-that his handwriting's TERRIBLE.

Ikaru's mom's job (as an HR) required her to travel for helping out foreign candidates with job placements, as ALMOST everyone in Japan wants to be a pro, and many office jobs are no longer in demand, hinting at the hero industry siphoning money from various low-level sectors to keep up with the job's GLAMORIZED image. In one chapter, Ikaru/Inori looks at an old pic of his 6-year-old self with his babysitter, a blue-eyed redhead teen in an European country's park (later revealed to be Germany. And he does revisit on getting the opportunity, even meeting his former babysitter- but not before informing Mirko and requesting her to handle things in his absence) and recalls how much fun they had playing tag and riding a carousel.

It is revealed-in a future chapter-that Hana's father had accidentally discovered a conspiracy involving the HC secretly having people (foreign returned/progressive Japanese and foreigners) assassinated for pushing to implement strict hero-selection parameters like in the West and invest MORE money in science ventures aimed at improving civilians' everyday lives (early on in the fic, Inori had come across case files of these individuals, noted their radical beliefs, and suspected foul play)! Two of the foreigners were magic-wielders, and the HC HATES sorcerers for being a THREAT to the status quo (Magic-wielders are far more powerful than quirk-users, especially since quirks come with drawbacks, some of which could cause health problems in the future IF the users aren't careful. Plus, MOST magic-users are MENTALLY strong individuals). An HC pro, who happens to be a relative of his ex-friend (not Midoriya. Reminding you in case you forgot), and Hana's father's colleague, joined hands with a local gang to kidnap Hana to kill him, only to massacre them once he killed the father and framed them for the deed (Hana's witch-powers manifested while she was in confinement. She hates herself for failing to save him).
(As always, change what you hate.)
