The Wattys have been announced for this year and they have scrapped Fanfiction as a category all together. This is beyond infuriating to say the least for an app that runs on Fanfiction. Us fic writers have no where else to gain any sort of recognition and here Wattpad is, desperately trying to change its reputation from a centre for fanfiction (the majority of its stories and some of which have even been translated into movies which Wattpad capitalises on) to something else as if it's ashamed of the fiction on here. This is so so saddening and I will now also be starting an account on Ao3. Please do support me on there if you want to. This account will still stay up and active. And it would a great help for all the writers if you could leave a comment on the Watty 2023 book condoning this action! Thankyou so much for all your support!
