Funny enough, I thought that I'd forgotten to have a chapter posted last Saturday, but I had Chapter 8 scheduled. What I did forget was to schedule Chapter 9 to go up at midnight today.

I actually have a lil buffer right now. Not a big one, I just finished chapter 11 last night, but it's something! I also went back and made some little changes to previous chapters, which I will but updating here on Wattpad soonish. Might not be today, but soonish.

In other news, the final chapter of Sheridan's Gift Draft 1 will be going up on Monday.

It was last minute, but I got chapter 7 done in time to post today. Possibly the longest chapter I've written of anything, ever. I'm sure I have some fat to trim in the next draft.

In other news, chapter 8 is also finished, and set to go up next Saturday. It's significantly shorter than chapter 7, though that's not really saying much.

Sudden nearly-two-month hiatus, aside from the SG chapters auto-updating, yep. Depression and chronic pain are a B. The former has been getting the boot, but the latter has been terrible (doesn't help that I don't have a good desk/chair situation to work with), yay!
Anyway, chapter 7 of DoA is still in progress, I've rewritten parts of it several times over the last couple of months, and it just wasn't going the right direction. I should be nearly done with it now though, I can't promise the 7th since I have other things that require my attention today and tomorrow, but I'm optimistic about the 14th.

Hopefully will be able to get back to updating chapters regularly, or at least semi-regularly. I have no buffer anymore, just a handful of half-done chapters.

Did I forget to proofread Dragons of Arillia Chapter 5 until mere hours before it was supposed to go up? Maybe, but you can't prove it, because Chapter 5 will be going up, right on schedule. August 12th, 12PM EDT. 7 Hours from now.

Some imaginary person (because I don't actually have readers and I'm just talking to myself) might be wondering: Why does Sheridan's Gift get updated at midnight, and Dragons of Arillia at noon? Because I decided when to schedule stuff mostly arbitrarily, and maybe (unprovably) I planned on switching DoA to midnight this week, but forgot to do the proofread until 4AM on Saturday. Don't ask why I would be awake at 4AM.

New story, Sheridan's Gift! Updates every Monday at 12AM EDT, until the final chapter releases (August 7th - October 30th).

Sheridan's Gift is 15k words across 13 chapters (in the current draft). Set in a world where gods and demigods, though rare, have been known to walk among mortal men, and magic is divine power, inherited through godly ancestry. If you ask me, the story of Sheridan's Gift (and it's sequels/prequels) is ultimately about broken, dysfunctional, lost families, finding purpose, and healing.

It is only the first story in what I plan to be a (currently untitled) series of novellas and/or short novels. At present, there are 2 fully drafted prequel stories (Galrasil's Wrath, and Scaldion's Priest), and 1 sequel in the works. At this time, I don't have plans to post the prequel stories, but I might choose to do so eventually.

Sheridan's Gift will not interfere with Dragons of Arillia in any way, both will update every week, as usual. The current draft of SG is already complete, proofread, and every chapter is scheduled for publication, so it's completely hands-off.

The past week has been terribly unproductive in terms of writing, and, well, most things. I've been sick, yay, and even had a fever on Saturday. Good thing Wattpad recently added the scheduled updates feature, because posting chapter 3 of Dragons of Arillia was the last thing on my mind that day. I still needed to tweak part of chapter 4, and I finally got that done just now, so it's scheduled to go up this coming saturday, at 12PM EDT.

Now that I'm done with chapter 4, I only have three more chapters sitting in an incomplete state, and we're not going to try to put a number to all of the ones I've yet to start writing. 5 and 6 are good though, I just need to give them their proof read, it's 7-9 that are incomplete. Now you know the state of my backlog.

In other news, I might pick one of my non-Arillia stories to start posting. Maybe Draft 2 of The Song Dragon, or Draft 1 of Sheridan's Gift, both of which are complete (but not final) drafts. The Song Dragon is what I was working on from Nov '21 up until earlier this year, and I think I might have drafted Sheridan's Gift in 2019 or 2020, I'm a little fuzzy on when exactly. Even though it's older and less polished, I might lean towards Sheridan's Gift, just to prove that I can write a story without a dragon as the MC. Anyway, whichever of those two that I decide to post, it won't affect DoA's chapter updates, and I'll probably pick a different day for it, like Mondays, or Wednesdays.

TLDR: I'm sick. DoA Chapter 4 is on schedule. Might start posting something new (relatively speaking), alongside the DoA chapters.

Only a week ago, I was thinking about how I wished you could schedule chapters. You can schedule uploads on YouTube, and webcomic updates on webtoons. It feels dumb that not everything has that feature yet, but wattpad has finally provided! As such, Dragons of Arillia chapter 2 is ready and scheduled to go up tomorrow at noon (EDT).

IcearynDragon

Fact of the day, I've spent the last several days writing a novelette or novella (they overlap, and idk exactly how long this will be yet) instead of working on Dragons of Arilla draft 2. Whoops! I've got a backlog of DoA chapters, but I still like to go over them one more time to check for errors and stuff before I post, and I've not done that with Chapter 2 yet. I'm sure I'll have it done on time, but I'm certainly not doing anything to keep my backlog right now lol

If you're curious about this shorter-than-a-novel that I've been distracted by, it's actually an Arillia story! It's not one that I needed to write anytime soon, since it involves characters that don't show up in the main trilogy until book 2 (Heirs of Arillia), and the idea is to include it as part of a collection of shorter fiction that I don't plan on seriously working on for a while, but... I really wanted to write about these characters, and it's been really fun. I can find some WILD out-of-context quotes in this one.

This story doesn't have an official name yet, but a couple of the ideas I've had floating around are "My Lady," and "The Bird and the Chain." It's sort of a romance. The characters are acid spitting dragons from the eastern kingdom, Princess Sparrow, and her bodyguard, Gecko.

Bodyguard romance is hot, and if you disagree, I'll stab you in the neck with a turkey bone! Maybe I shouldn't be referencing my own story when no one can even read it yet...

The first chapter of Dragons of Arillia Draft 2 is up!
The plan right now is to focus on getting DoA's second draft up, and then work on Red Violet. I am thinking that if I fall behind on DoA / my backlog runs out, then I could post stuff from one of the other stories I've been working on in the last 3 years.
Draft 2 of The Song Dragon is complete, with over 100k words and almost 60 chapters. If we like shorter stuff, there's Draft 1 of Sheridan's Gift, sitting around 15k words, and 13 chapters.

IcearynDragon

I will begin publishing draft 2 chapters of Dragons of Arillia this weekend! I will make an attempted at keeping these updates to a weekly basis, but we'll see how that goes in practice. Historically, I am very bad at keeping to schedules and routines for more than 2-4 weeks, and the state of my mental health makes a lot of decisions for me when it comes to writing.
