I write dark fiction; not out of intent, but because that's what it tends to turn into. Occasionally I manage to write a story full of sweetness and light, and regard this as a great achievement!
Most of my work is fan-fiction because I tend to take inspiration from existing situations, but I like to introduce well-rounded original characters into the scenario - however, any authorial insertion that takes place tends to consist of said characters undergoing highly unpleasant experiences and/or failing to survive until the end of the plot: Mary Sues are one thing I've never had a problem with...
I hold myself to the highest possible standards; and others too, I'm afraid. Teenaged fan-fic isn't in my line, and I've always believed that understatement and unspoken implication are far more powerful than any amount of explicit horror or sentimental gush.
Oh, and - as the reader may have gathered from the above - I'm a good deal older than I apparently look.
