I have not been a One Direction fan for as long as most of you, but I wanted to comment on this Zayn debacle and how I have seen it playing out on Wattpad. A few stories centering on Zayn that I have greatly enjoyed have been put on hiatus, removed or revamped to focus on a different person. For those that have put their stories on hiatus while they come to terms with their feelings regarding Zayn's departure. This I understand, writing is a very personal thing and you need to be comfortable and secure with your subject. And to an extent I understand those that are revamping their stories. If you are not happy with the way Zayn has handled things and feel like you need to make that change, I get it. What I find a bit funny is those that are removing their stories because they can't handle writing about Zayn. Many have added author's notes saying things along the lines of 'I'm sorry if this upsets or disappoints any of you, but I don't feel like I can continue this story because I am so hurt/betrayed/angry. Does anyone else see the irony in this? Zayn makes a personal decision to leave the band because he is no longer happy leading that life, which understandably disappoints his fans. So in response, due to your anger, sadness, and betrayal, you disappoint your fans and tell them they should respect your personal decision. Am I the only one that kind of chuckles at this? I mean no disrespect to these authors as I am a fan of many of them, but I just had to vent I guess. I am a fan of Zayn and while I may not understand all of his recent decisions, it is his life and he has every right to do what he feels is best. For those of you reading this, thank you for indulging me.

@cheriewrites I read another article and it sounds like this was something that was in all of the boys original contracts; if they ever left Simon had first dibs on any solo work they would do. I don't think it's that Zayn left necessarily to go solo immediately. But we all know with his talent he won't stop making music forever. As a solo artist he can do as little or as much as he wants. Like Ed Sheeran said, when he wants to take a break it's not as big if a deal because he only has to worry about him. I'll miss Zayn, but I do think this was probably the best decision for him. I would hate for him to have continued forcing it and ending up another amazing person that burned out too soon.
