Last weekend I was at a writing conference. One of the instructors, a published author, was talking about writer's block and some strategies to overcome it. I don't remember many of his tips off the top of my head (I did take notes) but I do remember one of the strategies he talked about was to ask what the worst thing that could possibly happen to the protagonist is and then do that thing. Adult published authors and teenage fanfiction writers are not as different as I thought guys

Also my favorite quote from the conference (from a different instructor) was "The only difference between a writer and an author is that an author finishes." I'm going to use that in an original book I'm working on

*sits down at writing desk* okay, lets make a quick chapter outline before I start writing this book. Just so I have a general idea of where im going, but not too specific. I don't want it to take very long.
          *3.5 hours, 23 items on a list of things i want to happen, 18 points on a story timeline, 7 pages, 11 chapter outlines, and 1000 words later:* hmm I think I might add more later but this is a good start

          help :')

What if the reason kids never see Santa on Christmas night is because Santa kidnaps them and brings them to his sweatshop and trains them to be his elves and they make toys for the good kids

          ...I'm sorry

Cyansong

@IndigoSilver08 yes! Perfect!
            Now the real dark part are the elves who use to be the orphans being forced to put a kid who saw Santa back to bed. They didn’t get that luxury when they saw him. The only thing they did different then the other kid is not have parents, which was something they couldn’t control.

@Cyansong hmm true true maybe he takes the orphans to his sweatshop and the kids who people would notice the absence of he just bonks and sends back to bed

@IndigoSilver08 yours isn’t a bad conclusion! It’s just that people would notice if the kids went missing.
            Now if it was an orphan who all the paperwork and mention of happened to disappear while the kid is taken to the sweatshop, who would notice?
