I feel kinda bad for him. I mean, yes, he laughed at Janus’ name reveal, which was done to earn trust, but he didn’t deserve to get so heart broken.
Thomas lied about Roman being his hero. That’s the saddest part, because he looked at Janus and saw him bod to confirm it was a lie, and he just looked so... defeated. Poor princey :((((

Oh! Also, his name! Janus is a name used in Roman (haha... :,)) Mythology. I found the meaning/info from behindthename.com so here ya go!
Means "archway" in Latin. Janus was the Roman god of gateways and beginnings, often depicted as having two faces looking in opposite directions. The month of January is named for him.
