Now, here's the actual rant: I reallyyy wanted to reread vampire's pet, but, to my horror, I had been BLOCKED by the author. Now, you might be wondering why. I don't know either, but I have my theories. First of all, I think it was very clear that vampire's pet inspired my book. Like super clear. I even mentioned the book and the author in my final page as my inspiration. I think people got the wrong idea though. THEY WERE NOT THE SAME (my vampires literally have elemental powers, vampires are humans and humans are vampires, and my main girl ain't that normal either. This ain't a spoiler right?) Anyway, I think all the people that said they were the same were right in a sense, my book read like vampire's pet. I mean, that's what being inspired by something means right? It probably felt wayyy too similar for people that had just read vampire's pet before finding my book, but the content couldn't be more different. Those that actually read my book could attest to that. I think I might've made the author super uncomfortable by mentioning them in the book and all that, so for that, honestly I get why I was blocked. My other theory is that my cover was too similar to that of Prey which is a book by the same author that I didn't get to read yet. Those who know me, know that I love to change my boo covers every few months. Bought In To Royalty was no different. It had multiple covers throughout the years, in fact, I still have each and every single one of them. The cover I eventually settled on though, became far more of I problem than I ever though it would. I found the image of my cover on Pinterest, and the lady on it was the same FC that I used for my character (brown hair and blue eyes), but too many coincidences and it becomes a bit sus right? So I understand that too, that's why I changed my book's cover AGAIN. I wasn't attached to it, so it's not that big of a deal to change it. Anyway, I realize this might be a three part rant. T^T sorry for the long read.
