For absolutely no reason whatsoever, imma break down a song for what I think it means. have fuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuun
"I was too young to see the truth
In my grandma's lap, I'm drowning in her perfume,"
(this song was written either in a childs perspective or about a childs perspective. either way, a child's perspective is being used here.)
"Too naive to even care
'bout the words she whispered while she brushed out my hair:
People gonna say
If you need a break
Someone'll take your place
People gonna try
To tell you that you're fine
With dollars in their eyes,"
(this has a double meaning. not only does that kind of thing happen in the music industry or art industries of any kind- this happens in all types of ways- it could be in school, it could be at work, it could even be at home. It basically means that whoever is in charge of your life or profession at the moment just sees you as an atm. using the things you do or love to do as a way of profit to make money from your work or talent, not once taking into consideration your mental health)
"Don't let them fuck you,
Honey no..
Don't let them try
Don't let them hurt you
Baby just say
Recess, I'm tired,"
(this right here is the advice being given- the key to a h a p p y success. It speaks for itself: remember your self-worth and don't let others use and walk all over you. there's absolutely nothing wrong eith taking a break- take care of yourself.)
"Sitting in my room
Lookin at all i've done
Everything I've wanted has come to fruition
I should be happy, but I can't get out my bed
Stressing bout the voices screamin inside my head,"
(This is signifying that sure, she worked her ass off and got where she wanted to be, but her mental health isn't what it should be. It's stressing her out.)
[chorus (already went over that)]
"Where is my time? gone in my mind
Gone
I can't find Euphoria
When I get upset
I think in my head
I do as she says,"

*Last bit
(This is an example going a little into depth about her mental health. "where is my time- gone in my mind" one's perception of time tends to get a little wonky when they can't focus or they're unhappy. "Gone I can't find
Euphoria"
she hasn't felt euphoria in a long time- and she's looking for a reason- something to get that dopamine going (not drugs or anything-). just something to make her truly happy.
"when I get upset
I think in my head
I do as she says"
when these kinds of things get to her, she thinks back on her grandmother's advice and does exactly that. she takes care of herself, remembering the worth of her mental health
