TANYA EASTER EGG #2:
          
          In chapter 2 of "Tanya," Tanya's French teacher asks her if she speaks any French and she replies with "Oui, un petit peu." This line is directly lifted from season 2 episode 4 of The White Lotus when Tanya is asked at a beach party if she speaks the language. She then goes on to quote a few generic French lines, which I now understand are from an old language learning tape & a grade school textbook. Naturally, I thought it only made sense that she would have taken French classes in her youth, but she isn't fluent and likely only knows enough to help her while traveling to French-speaking countries (we know she loves resort hop across the globe!).

So, I’m creating a playlist for “Tanya” with songs that remind me of each chapter and this is what I have thus far:

TANYA EASTER EGG #1 : 
          
          Chapter 1 of “Tanya” is titled “Goodbye, Mother” which is a line lifted from season one, episode 3 of The White Lotus (HBO). In the show, Tanya is on a boat getting ready to spread her mother’s ashes in the ocean. She eulogizes her recently deceased mother, which is a truly hilarious scene, and she ends the eulogy by opening the plastic bag of ashes and speaking directly into it, “Goodbye, Mother.” 
          
          In my story, Tanya is saying goodbye to her mother as she prepares to leave for boarding school. It’s such a joy to flesh out this complex mother-daughter relationship with my own ideas. This dynamic will be examined a lot more when Tanya goes home for Thanksgiving. Let me know what you think about this Tanya/White Lotus Easter egg! 

CHAPTER FOUR of “TANYA” has been published!
          
          Tanya meets Neerja’s cousin, Pri, at lunch on the first day of school. Everything is going swimmingly until Tanya unintentionally insults Pri. Tanya also receives an ominous warning from Neerja.

After a bit of a hiatus, TANYA IS BACK! Chapter 3 (Cours de Français) is now available. There's a pretty glaring White Lotus easter egg in this chapter and anyone who can spot it will earn mucho mucho brownie points from me. I hope ya'll enjoy the new chapter!
