I wrote this acrostic poem in junior high. That said, I don't think I registered its meaning until I entered the age of perspective, commonly referred to as mid-life. What I thought was just a clever scheme of words, I now recognize as a statement about the treasure trove of memories that constitute our existence. I also recognize that for me, through writing, I can explore my memories and with a little imagination, use them to create stories, poems and other fun works of words. The process of creative writing grounds me and I am grateful for the blessing which is this gift. It has been invaluable in helping me to transition out of a career in public relations and perhaps most importantly, because I can write anywhere, any time, I get to enjoy being with my family and our most-awesome Duck Tolling Retriever, Riley.
