          Just a quick update, I made the decision to break my two chapters up into smaller parts to make it less difficult to read. I now have the two chapters broken into five parts, so hopefully it's easier to navigate now, and a little less unwieldy.

          I covered romance briefly in the description, but considering this platform is dominated by this genre, I wanted to provide a little more explanation. I decided not to deal too heavily in any romantic subplots as I feel like it is outside of my area of expertise, and I wouldn't be able to do it justice. Saying that, it didn't really make any sense that the idea of sexuality wouldn't be explored at all. I wanted to create a world where the societal expectations that we are accustomed to do not exist, leaving my characters free to embody a diverse range of sexualities. But I want to emphasise again how lacking in romance this story is. There aren't any steamy scenes or cute back and forths, but there are couples, and characters all have their own preferences when it comes to partners. However, I'm very much open to suggestions when it comes to my writing as I'm still trying to find my feet. 
          
          Please feel free to ask any questions, or if you have any comments at all, I would appreciate your feedback. I've never had anyone read my work before, so I'm eager to find out what people think, both positive and negative! My aim with this book was to make something inclusive and uplifting, and while the story spends a lot of time in darkness, I like to think that ultimately it is a story of hope.

Hi again! 
          
          Since my last post here, I have been polishing off my first two chapters in an attempt to finally have something to post, and now, I've finally done it! I have the first two chapters up, and I think they give a really good impression of what my story is about. 
          
          If you read the story description, I've included some info on what to expect from this book, but I didn't have enough room to add all of the information I wanted in there. 
          
          So first, I just wanted to warn you, compared to a lot of what I have read here, my story is looong. My chapters have averaged about 5000 words, and some are even longer. I've been trying to trim away a lot of the fat for the final draft, but it's a process I'm in the middle of right now and have found quite difficult!

Wow, I forgot I even had an account here! I feel a need to post an update only because it's been just over a year since I began writing, and I wanted to record my progress so far.
          
           I've been trying to work up to a point where I'm OK with letting people read my work, something I've always been very self-conscious about. I'm currently at the end of my third draft, and I'm working on some side projects that are intended to deepen my understanding of the world I'm creating and the characters within it, as well as the relationships between them.
          
          This involves writing diary entries for my characters, as well as letters between them, which has been a distracting, fun way to take a break from drafting!
          
          
          I plan on biting the bullet soon and finally posting a few chapters here! Hopefully, putting it down in writing within this update will motivate me to finally let someone read my work. If you're looking at this post a year from now and I'm still dragging my heels about posting some work, please send me a dm telling me to get over it!!!!

Hi Everyone! 
          
          Just wanted to make a post to introduce myself, and tell you a little about my book.
          
          I'm currently in the process of writing a dystopian fiction, and I'm hoping to meet others to share inspiration with. I've only ever written short stories, this is my first attempt at a full book.
          
          Right now I'm halfway through Draft 2, and the story has changed quite a lot since the first draft. I've somehow managed to trim away about two-thirds of the first draft, but it's looking like draft two is going to be just as long as the first. How does that happen??!
          
          Right now, I'm really enjoying getting to know the characters on a deeper level, as I've already put them through everything in the first draft, and been  able to see how the events changed them as they evolved to deal with their changing situations.
          
          Stick with me, and find out more about the world I'm building and the characters within it. I'll also be sharing my writing process in the hopes of getting some tips from writers more experienced than me.
