I am a biomedical scientist and writer of speculative fiction. I was born in Moscow and raised in the USSR, Singapore, and Germany. I immigrated to the United States in 1990, and I now live and work in the Pacific Northwest. My very first piece of fiction, a historical novella, was published in Russian almost fifteen years ago, and my first English-language fiction came out a decade later in a literary magazine, Eclectica. In 2009, I attended the Clarion West workshop for writers of speculative fiction and since then have published several short stories in venues like Asimov’s, Clarkesworld, and others. My debut novel, The Age of Ice (Scribner/Simon & Schuster), was published in July 2013.
