MEMORIES OF FATHERHOOD

Dads, have you ever rocked your small children to sleep while feeding them their evening bottles of formula? The pure and obvious joy my children felt from feeding on that bottle of formula and being held in trusted and loving arms, sometimes brought tears to my eyes. To have had my child hold on to his or her bottle with one hand and reach up with the other hand and touch my face, while staring into my eyes with all of the love it can muster is indescribable. After having rocked them to sleep and burped them, I would carry them to bed and place them gently into their crib. I would just stand there leaning on the side rail of the crib and watch the slow even breathing of my child and I never ceased to be amazed.
