Hi everyone,

Some bad news. My publisher (Shawline Publishing) turned out to be a bust. They went bankrupt. This means my book is currently not for sale again, which sucks because I was ready to publish both Books 2 and 3!
It seems my series is in a perpetual hell of being released, then taken away, over and over again, and I apologise for that.
I'll retrieve the rights to my book soon and republish soon, probably going the route of self-publishing this time around. I have trust issues with "publishers" now.
Fellow writers, learn from my mistake. Make sure you thoroughly research a potential publisher, and if you find yourself about to pay them large sums of money, don't bother, just self-publish instead.

Heyo!

We're getting close to my first book's launch at the end of March. If you haven't already purchased it, you can find it here:

          https://www.shawlinepublishing.com.au/our-titles/sci-fi-fiction/display/437-sisters-of-the-sands

I'm not great at using social media to promote myself, and I don't get a lot of responses on here, so I don't actually know how many of you are reading this. But, for those that are, thank you for being on this journey with me. This book series is something that is very near and dear to my heart, and it is exhilarating to know what it has become.

I'm planning on holding an event at the local library for the launch of my book, so if you want to meet-and-greet and to get your copy signed, stay tuned for more details.

Hey all!

My first book is being officially published (not self-published but with an actual publisher this time) sometime in March. I plan on ramping up the marketing over the next few months.

But also, so as to not compete with the published version, I'm planning on taking most of my series down on Wattpad, besides 10 chapters or so, so if you haven't had a chance to read it yet, it might be your last chance until you can get the physical copy in your hands.

I'd like to thank Wattpad for being a free medium to share my story, which has been invaluable for getting feedback and growing as an artist, but it's time I moved onto bigger and better things.

JamesVillinger

Long, long time no see, everybody. Hope you've all been having a good year so far.

Exciting news: I've basically finished rewriting my 3rd book. Turns out I had to rewrite over half of it for a multitude of reasons. There are a couple of minor things I need to go back and clean up, but overall, I'm really happy with its transformation.

I'll eventually get around to rewriting Book 4, but be warned, I'll pretty much be chucking out almost everything from it and starting over. Insane, I know.

If you're currently reading Book 3, be aware I'll be changing Marthieu's character name to Elion shortly. No important reason, or is there?

I'm still getting my 1st book published later this year, in a few months hopefully.

ALSO: I've been experimenting a lot with AI-generated art. Over the years I've paid a LOT of money to real artists for a project I have yet to make money from, so I don't feel guilty about using AI art now. If you'd like to check out this art, Book 1 is now full exciting new imagery.

JamesVillinger

Phew!

After entire weeks of only writing a paragraph or two, I've finally released another chapter. Act 3 of Book 3 is finally underway, but the closer I get to the modified conclusion, the slower I seem to go.

Is it writing fatigue? Or is it just much harder than I thought it would be? In either case, progress is still happening, it's just slow.

In publishing news, it will still be a little while off yet before my publisher will begin professionally editing and proofing my 1st book, so if there was any feedback you had about that story, specifically (constructive feedback, obviously), then please get in contact with me and forward that along.

In particular, I'm interested in moments where you thought the characters acted oddly, or scenes you thought didn't flow as well as they could have.

JamesVillinger

Well, hello there everyone,

I have some great news: I'm going to be published! And no, I don't mean another self-published book on Amazon, I mean an actual publisher. After years of editing and improving, searching and rejection letters, I finally found a publisher that wants to publish my work, specifically book 1.

It may take some time before its ready, many months, and rest assured you'll all be the first to know. But this presents a problem, because once its published, I'll need to remove most of my works from Wattpad and other places, leaving only 10 chapters or so as a teaser.

In current news, for those who are up to date, you can see that I've been a little stuck on editing book 3. I'm currently up to chapter 27 and, while I know what comes next, the changes I've made so far create large ripples throughout the rest of the story.

As usual, I'd love to hear your thoughts and comments, and I wish you all well in these tempestuous times.

@JamesVillinger Fantastic!!! So happy for you ;)

For those that have been keeping up with the recent edits of Book #3, I'm going to make some minor changes to the latest chapters. Rather than spoil it publicly here, if you're one of those affected, please send me a private message and I can tell you what I've changed. It does make a difference going forward.

Otherwise, if you're not up-to-date, then ignore this message. You've got nothing to worry about. :)

Hi there, I've noticed that this series have undergone and is still undergoing some changes, and I'd love to read it once you are done with it. I've actually already read the series before, when it was still souls for suffering lol. And I still remember the anticipation of what's going to come next in your book, coz heck, I didn't even know that the book would go in those directions when I first read it (like omg from running away from acolytes and then actually fighting in space??). And then the powers too, so imaginative. I had never known then that portals could even be used that way, like when Sacet used it in the final fight too, when the teacher was teaching her what she could do with it, and that fight where she uses the sun and the beams, so amazing.

What I mean to say is, you are a spectacular writer, and your story has had my heart since I've read it (srsly tho i now have an obssession with portals as powers, and what could be done with it). I'm here to express my gratitude and admiration (coz my stupid young ass didn't know how to that time) for writing such a story; so imaginative that the feelings I've felt when reading it is still embedded in my mind.

I'm looking forward to what you'll do to the series! That's all, lot's of love!

*oh btw, u know, i loved sacet so much that i used her name to make an email lol

@silver_ashes_097 Hi there, thank you so much for your kind words. I am glad you enjoyed the story the first time through, and hope you like the new version, too.

I'm a little burned out at the moment, having just edited Books 1, 2 and half of 3 in the space of a few months, but motivational words like this really spur me on, so thank you!

Books 1 and 2 received the least changes, and Book 3 (although keeping a lot of the same story beats) has had 50% rewritten. It's been a long time since I looked at Book 4, but I imagine that will need the most work done on it.

Once those are finally updated, I'll probably self-publish them all and provide the Amazon links on here with another update. And then after that, I have plenty of ideas for new stories, some in the same canon, others not.

About the email address, that's awesome! It is surreal to me that I have actual fans such as yourself. So again, thank you.
