Books shouldn't just be for reading or something you are forced to do. They make you feel attached to each character that you forget they aren't even real.  You can cry or laugh to the point where someone asks, "Are you okay?" The author of the book should make you feel something more then you ever would expect with the words on the page. That's when you know you have a really good novel.
