Hey!! Im currently starting to write my own James fan fiction, however some of the ideas in it are inspired by some from this book!! But before I write those chapters and publish the book (if I do), I just wanted to get your permission to have a couple of similar ideas from this book. For example: They reunite on tour with their bands in the future (maybe, probably will do something quite different.), he does something bad (perhaps but I don’t want to spoil it for anyone who hasn’t read it fully yet just in case), their best friends, secretly in love, she calls him Jamie, she’s blonde etc. just small bits in it like that however the main idea of my book is definitely different, but some parts and topics are slightly similar. Your writing is so beautiful and it has inspired me to write this book, but of course if you don’t want anyone to have similar ideas to yours or a similar story then i completely understand!! Therefore I will change it if you wish, I just don’t want it to seem like I am copying you/stealing your work when I wouldn’t ever dream of doing such a thing. This is by far my favourite book ever and I definitely look up to it when it comes to writing, I wouldn’t want to insult the author by pretty much stealing their hard work. ❤️

I really appreciate you asking first, because I know there’s a lot of rampant plagiarism on WP, and so it’s a touchy thing. I’m totally fine with you including ideas and aesthetics that are inspired from my story as you stated above; it’s an honor actually to be thought of so well as to inspire. Maybe just include a little something in the forward, so that anyone reading your story knows that I am cool with any parallels to my story.

Ugh. I just let someone rile me up, even though I told myself just to ignore them. You are allowed to not like my stories, but no reason to talk crap in the feedback. If you don’t like a story, just stop reading and walk away. Writers pour their heart into their work, and that deserves some respect. Anyway, I muted them, but I couldn’t stop myself from responding to them and telling them to go away, and now I feel like I just gave them what they wanted.

People are going to be bitter and believe that just because they have an account to some platform that their opinion always matters. It’s hard to not respond to those messages, especially when you know you’re not doing anything wrong and you have this overwhelming urge to prove it and tell them to eff off. Don’t be so hard on yourself for it, it happens to everyone, no matter how much they know better. You defended yourself and your work, and you left it at that. When you get those messages, just remember the larger number of supporters you have, and that these idiots who think it’s effective to spread a negative opinion are rare. Someone in their right mind who didn’t like your story would have just exited out of it and called it a day. Whoever was messaging you has other issues going on, but that’s their problem. I love your work, you’re an excellent writer and a dedicated one too. Keep your head up, lovely. ❤️
@ebbageiryd I totally agree. It takes courage to share, and if someone doesn’t like it, the least they can do is just find something else more to their liking, not try and tear the author down.
I felt weird at first writing Cliff Burton into my fanfic. It felt disrespectful somehow, but also, how could I write about Metallica’s history without mentioning him? So I thought, at first, I’d keep Cliff’s presence in my story as limited as possible. But then I started writing him, and he kind of took over. His calm presence, his wise words and sly smile, they just came out. Not that he was working through me in any shape or mystical form, but maybe he was ok with letting me write this fictitious version. Maybe I got some of him right, maybe I was way off, but I definitely felt a connection that I didn’t have before. RIP Cliff. ❤️

I’m so sorry, I never saw a notification that you had messaged me. Stupid WP. Anyway, doing ok, it was a rough summer. My mental health takes a dip when I’m not writing, but then it’s hard to write when my mental health is down. I’ll get back to it though, I miss my stories. :(
