Hi Jane!
Responding to you here, as there was way too much to write to put on the comment thread within the story.
What pulled me to writing?
-I've always been a creative type (Actor, Writer, Comedian, etc. for 20+ years), and in the process of trying to write my first horror screenplay, I was struggling with the lack of dialogue in the opening scene, so I temporarily switched formats to get the idea on paper, and ended up inadvertently writing the prologue for "Goats from Lambs" and actually ended up liking it more. Since then, I have found that my writing style leans far more towards literary, as opposed to screen, as brevity does not come naturally to me.
Goals?
-I've published one book (Butterflies in Glass Cases) via a small pub house, but would love to work with a larger pub house to truly make a name for myself, and ideally start adapting my work into tv/film.
-My biggest goal is to get a sizable enough book deal that I can stop worrying about "grown up jobs" (currently working in PR), and move somewhere remote to just write/create for the rest of my life.
Challenges?
-As with any creative, I'm my biggest critic, often tearing apart my own ideas before they have a chance to thrive/form, and therefore have a bunch of half-written ideas stashed in the darkest recesses of my mind and hard drive.
-With publishing my first book, the biggest challenge was not having a marketing budget, and when combined with my personal distaste for social media, that proved to be a sizable challenge that put an even more sizable dent in my sales.
-Currently, my biggest challenges are finding time to write, as my current work schedule is as demanding as it is unpredictable (PR never sleeps), as well as finding a decent literary agent to fight on my behalf.
