He lost his radio and everything. He drifted aimlessly in the water, with his lifejacket on, a hundred miles from shore, no food and no water. The only thing he had was his faith. So he prayed constantly, over and over. 'Oh, God, please send down your hand and pluck me from these waters.' His faith was so strong that he believed that's exactly what would happen. He knew, without a doubt, the hand of God would reach down from the clouds and pull him out. He even smiled, knowing he was safe.
"Later that day, seemingly by coincidence, a large fishing boat came by. The fishermen shouted down to the man, 'Here, let us throw you a rope so you may climb aboard!' to which the man responded 'Thank you, but I'm all right. You may leave me be,' knowing the hand of God was going to pull him out of the waters. So the fishermen left, and the man continued his prayers and his faith remained strong. Then, an hour, later a motor yacht in the area happened to spot the man. They came close to him and shouted for him to climb aboard, 'there are sharks in these waters,' they warned. But the man refused, telling them that this was a test of his faith, and that the hand of God was going to pull him out of the water. They didn't understand what he meant, so eventually they gave up and left.
