          His hand clamped onto the leather grip. Slowly, deliberately, he drew the massive length of steel from his waistband, the tip catching the dim light as it finally cleared the fabric. 
          
          Their swords clattered together and bound tight.
          
          His blade slipped, opening a red line across her arm. Before he could gasp, a cold rage flashed in her eyes. She brought her sword down in a brutal, shattering arc. The impact numbed his fingers, and his longsword clattered away across the floor.
