Jeannette Smith demonstrated an aptitude for writing early in life and attended a school for creative writing before graduating from high school.  She is a member of the Society of Children’s Book Writers and Illustrators, an international professional organization for writers and illustrators of children’s literature.

Jeannette is a former preschool teacher with a tertiary qualification in Early Childhood Development, and a member of the Canadian Child Care Federation as well as the British Columbia Family Child Care Association.

After the arrival of her firstborn she focused all her attention on the development of her daughter … as well as her two boys born in the years to follow.  Jeannette homeschooled her three children in their early years, an avenue that allowed her to express her creativity and apply her knowledge on early childhood development.  Through her diverse teaching experiences she gained firsthand insight into children’s cognitive, emotional, physical and social development.

Jeannette’s passion for writing, love for children and understanding of early childhood development, combined with life experiences from living in South Africa, Australia and currently Canada, provides her the inspiration to write for all ages in various genres.
