Jeno looked at the boy beside him and observed him silently. The same smiling ball of sunshine that had greeted him this morning was now drained and tame from the long day that had ended. In some ways, Jeno preferred this side of the boy- when he was calmer he seemed much less threatening and scary to the younger. But in other ways he hated it because he knew how destructive Renjun’s head could get when he was like this, and he knew how much he beat himself up for it. So, it was at times like these when Jeno would speak for the first time in a day.
"How-" Jeno paused, clearing his soft and smooth voice before opening his mouth again. "How was your day Injun?" he asked delicately, his voice as soft as silk. It had always been like that- gentle and warm. So soft it was barely above a whisper. Renjun gave a small smile.
"Fine.. Just draining is all." Jeno nodded, which was enough to tell Renjun a lot. Like how he understood and felt the same; both being introverts their days were very draining. "What about you Jen? How was your day?" Jeno shrugged as he held his backpack straps, looking down at his shoes. Renjun nodded at the silence. He knew that even saying one word could be terrifying for the boy so he never pushed him further then he wanted to go.
"I met a new boy today..." Renjun looked at him in surprise. Jeno normally didn't say more then just one sentence after school, the rest being explained through his expressions that Renjun had learned to read. Jeno nodded to himself, a small smile on his face. "While you got our lunches, he sat by me.." Renjun nodded at the boy’s words, excited by how much he had said already.
