Ah I guess what I'm saying is, the practice (illegal now though) is factual but some things in my book went differently than it did for real ^^'

            Differences for Lucius would be that while not all of it was supposed to be cut off he kicked the man who performed it, causing him to slip and cut too much. While not all of it came off instantly it had to be removed when they stitched him up. 
            
            It wasn't usually done in England either. It was mostly done in Italy from what I gather (Lucius' mother was half Italian and was greatly inspired by it).
