So I have some news... Just over a week ago I got an email to tell me that BEN SOLO: THE WAY HOME is on the shortlist for the 2022 Watty Awards! The Wattys are Wattpad's biggest event, potentially even the biggest annual writing competition on a global scale!
          
          My post-Rise of Skywalker fanfiction now has the potential to win one of over 500 prizes... And while my story is fanfic, there are also three publishing deals and several TV and film adaptation deals up for grabs!
          
          Previous Watty winners have scored hits across bookshelves and even on our TV screens (anyone heard of THE KISSING BOOTH...?). The awards ceremony is in LA in about a month's time and I will be attending - virtually, of course 
          
          Just the thrill of receiving my shortlist notification and my *brand new* fancy nominee book cover (swipe to see it) is extremely cool. As you might know, I wrote this story mainly for myself, to change an ending for two beloved characters (and their family and friends). I didn't expect it to do anything more than that, but the more this story gets read and the further it spreads really warms my heart ❤️

Hello there! Who else is excited for Disney+ Day today? I am itching for the Kenobi trailer, and I'd also love some new details on the Lando series, The Acolyte and -- really, let's be honest -- a surprise drop announcement of something to do with the sequel characters... Can you even imagine?
          
          Anyway, I hope you're doing OK and that you're safe and content in these difficult times. I hope that you are able to have some time and space to yourself to focus on your needs and interests and the things that you love and that bring you joy.
          
          I am excited to announce that three of the books I wrote before BEN SOLO: THE WAY HOME will be coming soon to Wattpad! I wrote these in the early/mid-2000s. They were published in America, but the publisher has since folded and the rights to the books reverted back to me.
          
          I hope to have the first of these stories on the way within the next month. All three of the books are romances! Two are novellas -- one set in the city of Oxford near to Christmastime, and the other set on the beautiful beaches of Cornwall. The third is a longer book -- a paranormal romance set in an old country house where ex-lovers unexpectedly reunite...!
          
          I'm really excited to bring these new stories to you. They're nothing to do with Star Wars, and although I wrote them over 15 years ago (so they are not quite representative of my writing style now), I hope you can still enjoy them!

          Carrie Fisher has and always will be an inspiration to me, as she is to many people around the world. One of her legacies is her dedication to breaking down the stigma around bipolar disorder.
          
          Carrie never shied away from being honest about how her diagnosis with BPD affected her life. Her openness about it provided lifelines to people experiencing bipolar, as well as their loved ones. It is something we are proud to honour in her name.
          
          Carrie was an honorary board member of the International Bipolar Foundation at the time of her passing in 2016. The IBPF focuses on mental health awareness in addition to education, resources, and supportive connection for all who are touched by bipolar disorder. They highlight and honour the many remarkable contributions that those living with bipolar disorder continue to offer throughout the world. You can find out more at www.ibpf.org.
          
          In Carrie’s own words: “One of the things that baffles me … is how there can be so much lingering stigma with regards to mental illness, specifically bipolar disorder. In my opinion, living with manic depression takes a tremendous amount of balls … At times, [it] can be an all-consuming challenge, requiring a lot of stamina and even more courage, so if you’re living with this illness and functioning at all, it’s something to be proud of, not ashamed of. They should issue medals along with the steady stream of medication.”

I have some exciting news!
          
          I’m pleased to say that there will be new writing coming to my Wattpad page, in the form of a Star Wars-themed short story anthology!
          
          This will be uploading in the next couple of weeks and I’m hoping you’ll enjoy it as you wait for the Poe and Connix spin-off, and the sequel to BEN SOLO: THE WAY HOME (both of which I’m working on).

OK, folks - that is officially it for BEN SOLO: THE WAY HOME!
          
          I've done my final checks, I've added in all the beautiful art that was produced for the story, I've double-checked all my link references... AND... you now have additional inspirational images tucked inside the chapters!
          
          The story is officially marked as complete, so if you or anyone you know was waiting for that moment to read it - now's the time.
          
          Next up? I'll be writing again once I've had a little break, but in the meantime, BEN SOLO: THE WAY HOME will be entering The Watty Awards 2021!

Now that there is less than a week to go until The Big Finale, I've opened up an online book group for BEN SOLO: THE WAY HOME!
          
          I thought it would be nice to have a place to talk about the story, ask questions, and just have a nice chat - especially once it all comes to a close! This also helps avoid spoilers in the comments for people who are still reading or who come to the story later on down the line.
