Jewel Rink was born in a small town in Oklahoma- Ponca City; her father is a retired executive from Conoco Oil and her mother a devoted homemaker.
She is the youngest in her family; Jewel has six siblings: five brothers and one sister.
Growing up, Jewel loved all sports and excelled in tennis (Oklahoma State Champion '81 and All-State Team). Following high school, she spent four years at the University of Oklahoma where she earned a Bachelor of Science in Nursing.
Jewel practiced as an RN for over a decade, and during that period of time, she was reflective in daily journal writings. But, amidst a turbulent relationship, her diary was stolen and was put on display, exposing Jewel's most personal thoughts. The hurt ran deep and that pain stalled her desire to put anything in writing.
Over the next several years, she made great changes in her life. As a result, Jewel found much happiness, and in 1989 she pulled out her typewriter. She got involved in community outreach, counseling, religious work, and she dusted off her long-neglected tennis racket.
By 1990, she had a new lease on life. She married in 1993; had her first child, a daughter, in 1995, and she decided to be a homemaker, like her mother. Jewel had two more children, a daughter in 1997 and a son in 2001.
When the children began elementary school, Jewel had a little more free time so she added writing to her list of hobbies; this reawakened her love of arranging words. She completed her first novel in 2014 and immediately began her second. She plans to seek publication.
Presently, Jewel resides in Fort Worth, Texas, and she enjoys writing, community outreach, and religious activities. She plays a mean game of ping-pong, tennis, and she has reintroduced herself to the game of golf.
