Why do people romanticize mental illnesses? Things like depression, dysphoria, autism, anxiety, PTSD, name anything, are NOT things that people parade around for attention. If you don't have them, they are NOT things that you want. They are constant problems that you don't just get over or one day decide that you don't want them and boom, they're gone. They are NOT textbook. You can never pretend you have a mental illness based on something you read online or someone told you. They are NOT something that you can just research and automatically understand. Everyone is different, and you don't always KNOW what's happening in someone's mind. They are NOT something that you hope you have. That should be a given right?? I mean, why would you EVER want depression or anxiety or any of those things?? It doesn't affect just you and it's not a simple decision you just get to make and it's definitely NOT cool. To those of you with a mental illness, I support you and I love you very much. You're strong and beautiful and have such a bright future ahead. For those of you who don't, count your lucky stars and be a support for those friends that need it. But we're all people, so let's all remember to take care of ourselves and be proud of everything we do. ❤️
