Hello Dear Readers,
Recently, I have been receiving numerous accusations of using AI generative tools for my stories—several almost every day on AO3 and a few a week on Wattpad. However, I thought this would be an ideal opportunity to clarify things for my GENUINE READERS who may have some doubts about my writing. But before I go into it, I just want to remind everyone who easily jumps to conclusions that work is written by AI—creative writing existed long before AI did.
1.Every single word you read comes from me and MY creative mind, not a machine. Literature has been my passion since I was young. Reading books served as my outlet and escape for many years—and it still does. For the past five years, I have been pursuing a degree in literature and creative writing (part-time and entirely online) at the Open University, with just one module left before completion. I did not invest thousands of pounds and dedicate five years of my life to extensive study only to allow a machine to do all the work for me. I write my stories, I edit them myself and I judge every single word as though I am my own worst enemy to make sure the writing is good (or at least to the best standards I have at this point on my writing journey).
2.The only AI that touches my work is the grammar checker. English is not my mother tongue; while I am fluent in both speaking and writing, I still find grammar to be quite challenging. No matter how many times I edit and reread my chapters, there always seems to be a cheeky typo that slips through or a misplaced comma. However, these tools are merely AI-based algorithms rather than fully functioning artificial intelligences that create content for writers—they process the provided text and highlight punctuation and spelling errors. In some cases, they even identify inconsistencies in sentence structure and flag sentences that may be unclear in meaning. If you consider this unacceptable, please feel free to unfollow me.
