Well, it's started.
"Variations of Paris" is officially online and we are just at the beginning. Each Wednesday I'll have a new scene posted. You'll get to delve further into this little semi-Utopia I've created.
I call it a "semi-Utopia" because I honestly feel we could use a preview of some light at the end of this long tunnel we've entered into in 2020. Diseases, social upheaval, climate change: it's a lot all at once, and we're just at the start of this thing.
A Utopia grounded in our current history, one that emerges from this reality, is more likely to happen than an airy-fairy daydream of the kinds we used to get in the 50s and 60s in sci-fi. That's a secret hope of mine: that some of us will experience this world before we die, even if we're very old when it manifests.
Anyway, Chapter 1, Scene 1 will go live next Wednesday, July 29th, and we'll finally get to see what the inside of this "Hopper" vehicle looks like. You'll also get to meet Samir for the first time, an interesting dude with some unlikely insecurities that Aliette sees almost immediately.
And lastly, my name's Jody. I've been writing for a long time, and this is my first time using Wattpad. I live in Hamilton, Ontario, Canada with my dog Bella and am moving to smaller digs in a few weeks. Big changes happening all around, and I'm excited for a few of them. You'll get to know me better as this goes on, as I hope to get to know you.
