I noticed that a lot of werewolf romances have some things in common with human romantic relationships that turn abusive later. What about stories that explore that...
Instead of a whirlwind romance with a soulmate that is supposed to fix everything, a fake soulmate who deceives the human girl. Since she isn't his real soulmate she can never be what he truly needs, and her failure to keep up the perfect fantasy means he will always have some reason to punish her for not being what he really wants.
Why do women trust/believe/fear and stay in relationships that turn out so bad? Just as important, why do some of them finally decide to leave after choosing to stay so long? How do they adapt to normal life AFTER, and can they learn to trust and fall in love when he is for real this time?

and plenty of other non-fiction can be deep background for fiction with a purpose: to write stories with characters real enough that their decisions to stay, to go, and to love again are perfectly relatable to women in those situations and help give them the extra push to realise that they CAN leave too....and a second chance at true love just might be real if they find the courage to try.
