I find it very hard--actually painful--to read a draft that is so rough that one out of five words is either missing or misused. What is the point of posting such a draft.

Yeah, its pretty common for people to post rough drafts. I can even hold my hands up and say I am one of those that post rough drafts but I generally don't take offense lol

But some writers are very young on here or very easily offended. The safest option is to private message them so it does not draw others into the situation. But if you want to offer your services as editor it may be worth checking out the clubs section. Many people ask for help with editing over there.

@me2you804 Is it usual for writers to post very rough drafts here? I commented on a very rough story and offered my services as an editor. The writer replied that I was very rude to offer my editing services and that she would edit the story once she had posted all of it. Is that the norm here?

Another person also said I was rude to point out that the story was posted apparently without any attempt to edit it. I'm very confused. Is it considered rude to offer to edit stories posted on this site? Even good writers need an editor.
