What do you guys think about Self-Publishing?

I'm heading out on a Wifi-less Vacation tomorrow, and I just wanted to let you know to prepare for a huge update when I return. 
          I don't know what I'll work on, but I will have at least 2 chapters done of "Monster", probably one of "Who is Trinity Richards?", and maybe even a new story....

I'm completely editing and reuploading my very first story that I wrote. It's called "Monster." and it's the first in a series of at least 4 books (The 5th was never finished). Please check it out. It would mean a lot to me.
