Hey Bestie heres a basic vanilla recipe for your uncles birthday!

          VANILLA CAKE
          250 ml white sugar (140 g)
          115 g butter
          2 eggs
          1 t vanilla
          1 ½ C flour
          3 T cornstarch (30 g)
          1 ¾ t baking powder
          ½ t salt
          ¾ C milk

          Method:
          1. Preheat oven to 180°C, and butter your tins. I like two filled 6inch tins.
          2. Whisk sugar, fats and vanilla till fluffy and creamed.
          3. Sieve dry ingredients, spoon in bit by bit with milk till it's all combines and smooth.
          4. Separate into prepared tins, drop oven temp to 165° when putting your cakes in. Bake for 35 to 40 minutes. Until lightly golden and tooth pick comes out almost completely dry.
          5. Allow to cool in tins, then separated edge with a thin knife and you ready to decorate!

@Joshuji69 hey, sure thing! Happy to help, and no worries. Lemon royal icing (lemon and icing sugar, if you want it to set harder add a teaspoon of glucose syrup), whipped Chantilly cream is also a good lighter cover or if he likes chocolate then ganache is a good option to cover a cake, 1:1 ratio for milk chocolate, and dark choco is 2:1 to warmed cream.
Cornstarch is basically just a smooth binder, so could use rice, tapioca, or any fine corn flour. (Or just 1 ¾ Cups cake flour)
And yeah could do 3 if you have to use it or want a bigger batch, just means you got to half everything, then x3 for a 1½ batch to use 3 eggs
