For many years, I struggled deeply with drink and drug addiction; my life was broken and chaotic. It was a turbulent existence, also marked by the relentless highs and lows of bipolar disorder. Yet, through immense effort, I finally broke free. I emerged from that darkness, battered but not broken, into a world that felt calmer, more caring, and profoundly different. The bipolar still lingers, of course, a part of my landscape, but I wear my sobriety with pride.
