Mini rant follows.
I feel like my school chooses what's important for you?
Your sixth grade schedule is pretty black and white. You have math everyday and history and science alternating every other day. You also have gym alternating every other day along with an elective. Your elective choices are VERY limited. You can pick band for the whole year, chorus and two wheel choices, or just the wheel. The wheel consists of a school preparedness class, drama, our version of wood shop, or a digital literacy class. But you don't get to pick.
Obviously math and English rank above all else and our personal choices don't matter much. There's also advanced math and English.
In seventh grade you get to pick from TONS of electives and you get two because you automatically have English everyone other day, so now math is the only class you have everyday. Therefore, math is number one and English is number two, pushing history and sciences to the side? You can get advanced math and English still, but now advanced math is algebra. If you have algebra, like me, it's a high school class and you have it every other day. You can also take a foreign language as an elective which is also high school credit.
As an eighth grader things are the same. Except for you can either be in regular math for your grade level, algebra, or advanced geometry. What about another level of english? Nope. Only two, once again pushing math ahead.
Algebra and all of your electives are mixed between grades too. Just saying.
