Comets and the Earth
What would happen if a comet were to impact the earth? Would humanity as we know it cease to exist? Would we see a shift in the environment? The answers may be closer than we think.

An international group of scientists have located the remains of a prehistoric civilization far in the Western Ocean revealing an account documenting the patterns of a comet approaching the earth, getting closer each year. According to findings, the comet was on a direct collision with the earth. However, when the predicted time came, the comet never appeared. The comet ceased to exist.

Scholars of the ancient civilization attribute its disappearance to a mysterious light seen in the sky near its annual arrival. 

The origin of the light source remains unknown. What forces of nature or power could have been strong enough to subdue a comet?

"Perhaps it wasn't a comet." Says the lead scientist of the international expedition. "The historical record from this era is unreliable. Perhaps it was simply the human imagination."
