@JustReading_Things Honestly, I'd say the most you really can do is treat him the way he deserves, he'll appreciate just having someone there with/for him, whether he's aware of him being traumatized or not :P but don't forget to make sure he does the same back, that's very important! while he sounds like an absolute king, you should be being treated as his queen as well!
