So I’m just going to rant here randomly since no one knows me irl.
So my school just made new rules regarding the use of phones and any personal devices. This is going to be put in place due to a new law being passed in my state that bans any and all forms of personal devices in school from k-12 (including pagers!?!).
So this law allows the school to place their own rules and punishment for the students who violate the new phone ban.
And while I agree with the idea that we shouldn’t be using our phones during class time as it’s not only impacting our ability to understand our school work but banning phones during our LUNCH seems a little bit excessive…
My school has a 50 minute lunch, and this will be our only break during the whole school day, we used to have personalization but they recently took it away.
Oh and my school also banned headphones, like at least let us hear music…
This is what they have banned -
Cell phones, smartwatches, earbuds, tablets, and other personal devices
Texting, messaging, social media, or electronic communication of any kind
Devices must be off and stored securely—no exceptions
And I haven’t even touched the punishment for the violation of the phone ban.
First Violation
Phone confiscated
You can pick it up after school
Parent contacted
2-hour Saturday detention
There’s more of course but I don’t want to go on for too long…
